Yunhuangshan Mountain

Yunhuangshan Moutain is located in Tashan Villiage, Yinan. From a distance you will see an ancient pagoda reaching high into the sky, with a yellow wall dimly visible at halfway. The yellow wall, green pine trees and white pagoda forms an impeccable picture.

According to the legend, after attaining the Way in the Shuanglin Temple, Fu Dashi in the Liang Dynasty of the Southern Dynasties built three rooms on the level ground of this mountain for quiet practice. On every first day and fifteenth day of the lunar calendar, he preached to the disciples. His incantation brought yellow clouds floating above him. So the mountain is named as “Yunhuang” (Yellow Clouds), while the three rooms are called Yunhuang Temple. After his parinirvana, some of his ashes were buried in the pagoda on the top of the mountain. In the following 1,400 years, the Yunhuang Temple and Fu Dashi Stupa has weathered many changes. Walking inside the Temple, you will first see a Statue of the Laughing Buddha with a 1-ton bronze bell on the right. The temple has a main hall in the middle, with a Guanyin Hall in the east and a Sanshen Hall in the west. A century-old yacca in the courtyard marks the history of this ancient temple.
