Recently, the Roadbed and Pavement Maintenance Project of Guomao Avenue (Dachen-Suxi Section) was successfully completed. Starting at Yangdian Village in Dachen Town and ending at the south side of Suxi Grain Depot, the project had a total length of 6.1 kilometers, and its construction started on Jun. 1 this year. This is not only the maintenance and upgrade of an important passage in Yiwu, but also a vivid example of the new model of “full life-cycle maintenance” promoted by the Municipal Transportation Bureau to ensure the high-quality development of roads.

The Pilot Program for Full Life-cycle Road Maintenance is one of the “eight landmark projects” of the provincial road and transportation work during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Since the implementation of this model in Yiwu in Jun. this year, a total of 25.911 kilometers of road maintenance has been completed, and the construction efficiency has been increased by about 30% compared with the traditional model.

On Mar. 5 this year, the Pilot Program for Full Life-cycle Road Maintenance of Yiwu was approved by the provincial center. The pilot work selected 7 routes throughout the city, covering national highways, provincial highways, and rural roads (county highways). Through public bidding, the general contractor won the bid with a total price of CNY 676 million and will undertake the maintenance tasks for 8 years from 2025 to 2032. The average annual maintenance expenditure has decreased by 7.2% compared with that before the reform, achieving the phased goal of “spending less money to maintain roads well”.
